Harvest will officially kick off its community-led strategic planning process in January 2026
Martinsville, Va. — The Harvest Foundation has released a Request for Proposals (RFP) seeking a qualified consulting firm or collaborative team to lead its next major strategic planning initiative: a bold, community-centered strategic visioning and long-range planning process.
The selected firm will work alongside The Harvest Foundation, community partners, and residents to imagine what Martinsville-Henry County (MHC) could become over the next 25 years. The initiative will also inform Harvest’s next 3-5-year strategic plan, serving as a roadmap for short-term implementation aligned with a long-term vision.
“This is an important moment for our community,” said Kate Keller, president of The Harvest Foundation. “As Martinsville-Henry County undergoes economic and generational transformation, we want to ensure that the voices of our residents, especially youth and underrepresented groups, are shaping the future of a community that’s healthy, prosperous, and vibrant for all.”
The RFP outlines a planning process grounded in equity, community input, and alignment with ongoing local and regional visioning efforts. Firms with experience in rural, community-led, long-range planning are strongly encouraged to submit a proposal. Consultants will be expected to integrate local comprehensive plans and regional insights, while offering creative, culturally appropriate engagement strategies.
Proposals are due Oct. 13 by 5 p.m. Vendor selection is expected by December 2025, with the project’s kickoff scheduled for January 2026.
