You Belong — Building a community for everyone

  • June 30, 2025
Community members celebrate the official ribbon cutting of the new community mural at the Salvation Army.

From the desk of The Harvest Foundation President Kate Keller

The Harvest Foundation, in partnership with the diverse people and organizations that call MHC home, serves as a long-term catalyst, advocate, and investor to make our community a welcoming place where all can thrive.

You may or may not recognize this statement, but this is Harvest’s mission statement. As this is Pride Month, I’d like to take this opportunity to look at the final part of our mission statement: to make our community a welcoming place where all can thrive.

There are three main components of this statement: Welcoming, All and Thrive. “Welcoming and All” is the belief that everyone, regardless of race, religion, gender, where you were born, sexual orientation or income status, who wants to live and work in our community finds our community safe and accepting. People often mention that the best part of MHC is the people. The people here are friendly and care about their neighbors. Our Project Hope projects are living examples of this.  Communities from across MHC come together to do something to make a difference and make the overall community a better place to live.

The final part of the mission statement is a community where all can thrive. This really is the gist of what we work towards every day. We seek to work with partners that create opportunities for everyone who lives and works in MHC to have a good job and house, to have places to be physically active and play, and to create places and opportunities for people to connect and develop meaningful relationships.

These are the ideals we strive for and we hope that you will come along with us. As a reminder, our Project Hope grant applications are due August 1. No one knows your community like you do. Grab your friends and neighbors and do something great for your neighborhood.
