Plans are moving forward for a $250,000 expansion a “wildly successful” Philpott Marina, said Henry County Parks and Recreation Director Roger Adams.
The marina not only provides recreation, but it helps this area’s economy and brings in visitors, Adams said.
“Every weekend new people come to the lake, people who have never been at Philpott Lake before,” Adams said.
Even before the marina opened in March 2014 with 42 slips, those slips were rented, Adams said.
A is basically “a parking spot on water,” he said.
Probably half or more of the people who rent slips are from Martinsville and Henry County. Others come from surrounding localities or out of state.
