What is Our MHC?
Our MHC is a community effort to help plan the future of Martinsville-Henry County (MHC). Together, we are creating Vision 2050—a long-term plan to make our community a great place to live, work, and grow. In partnership with The Harvest Foundation and Horizon 54, we are listening to residents and local groups. Together, we can imagine what is possible for Southern Virginia and build a stronger future for everyone. We hope you’ll join us in this community visioning process.

Vision 2050 will help guide future investments and decisions in our area by bringing together people and organizations to decide what matters most. Its goal is to support long-term progress and opportunity for everyone who calls MHC home.

What is Community Visioning?
The community visioning process we are using to create Vision 2050 builds on the strengths and momentum already growing in the region. It focuses on expanding opportunity, reducing barriers, and creating a more vibrant, inclusive, and thriving community for generations to come. This work reflects a commitment to community engagement and building strong communities through local input.
How the Community Visioning Process Works
PURPOSE
Help residents plan the future of their community through open conversation and shared decision making.
PROCESS
Gather community feedback through surveys, community workshops, focus groups, small group discussions, and public meetings.
FOCUS
Identify community strengths to build on and challenges that need attention.
OUTCOMES
Create a shared long-range vision (Vision 2050) with clear goals, next steps, and measures of success.
By lifting up community voices, Martinsville-Henry County supports community-led growth and encourages residents to help shape a stronger, more connected future.
