The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC) says it will begin working with advanced manufacturing facilities to help them recruit talent.

Earlier this month, the Economic Development Corporation, which promotes business and industry within Martinsville and Henry County, announced it will re-align several positions within the organization to support help local industries find the workers they need. Director of Tourism Sarah Hodges will now also serve as Director of Talent Development; Beth Stinnett is now Assistant Director of Tourism; and Director of Small Business Division Valerie will serve as Director of Business Development.

The reason for these realignments is simple, EDC President and CEO Mark Heath said: Martinsville and Henry County have a 4.1-percent unemployment rate, and area companies are telling the EDC that one of their single biggest challenges is finding skilled employees to join their workforce. It is imperative, Heath said, that the EDC work with these companies to help them find the talent they need to thrive and grow.
