MARTINSVILLE, VA – Patrick Henry Community College welcomes its new Dean of Student Success and Enrollment Services Dr. Virginia R. Jones. With more than twenty years of experience working in education, both in administrative positions and as a faculty member, Jones is no stranger to the college campus.

Dr. Jones has worked all around the southern and central Virginia region. She has held administrative positions at Rappahannock Community College, Ferrum College, and Halifax County Public Schools and has taught at Danville Community College, Ferrum College, Mary Baldwin College, and the Darden College of Education for Old Dominion University. Now, she is returning to her southern Virginia roots as she comes at PHCC.

“We are thrilled to have Dr. Jones join PHCC,” says Greg Hodges, the college’s Vice President for Academic & Student Success Services. “The amount of experience she has with higher education –specifically in the college processes that she will now be spearheading at PHCC – made her natural fit for the position.”

Jones received her doctorate in Education from Old Dominion University.  She is filling the Dean of Student Success and Enrollment Services, a new position created at the college which encompasses several departments, programs, and initiatives. As the student success and enrollment dean, Jones’ duties will include overseeing advising, recruitment, and campus life activities. She will also serve as the supervisor for several federal grant funded programs as well as soon-to-be-announced student success initiatives.
