Business Matchmaking Event Aims to Build Relationships

February 14, 2018

Martinsville, VA (February 14, 2018) – The Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation’s Small Business Division is inviting business owners to attend a business matchmaking event to increase more local business to business partnerships.

The event is scheduled for February 20th from 5-7PM at New College Institute’s Baldwin Building (191 Fayette Street, Martinsville).

Martinsville-Henry County is a close-knit community but many business owners are not aware of (or don't have time to meet with) other businesses that could help build their sales. The purpose of this event is to increase networking and build relationships that can strengthen both businesses. With a set up similar to speed-dating events, the purpose of this opportunity is to increase more local business-to-business (B2B) partnerships and networking.

“The move to shop local can apply to businesses too. A business that buys supplies or services in town, or one that refers shoppers to other neighboring businesses can have mutual benefits. The more businesses that we can get on board with B2B interactions, the bigger the impact could be on the local economy. So we would love to see a variety of types of businesses attend,” said EDC’s Small Business Director Valerie Harper.

The event is open to existing Martinsville or Henry County businesses. As with speed-dating, the event will move at a fast pace as participants try to make business connections. Participants are encouraged to bring enough business cards, flyers, promotional items, etc. to share with everyone.

Participating is free but registration is required for an accurate headcount. Register by calling 276.403.5940, emailing vharper@yesmartinsville.com or visiting www.YesMartinsville.com/Events

The mission of the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation is to create new job opportunities and expand the tax base for the area.  The organization strives to support and develop local industry, as well as market Martinsville-Henry County globally as an exceptional place to live, work and play.

The EDC is a public-private partnership between the City of Martinsville, Henry County, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, the Martinsville-Henry County Chamber’s Partnership for Economic Growth (C-PEG) and the Harvest Foundation of the Piedmont.
