MARTINSVILLE – A professional educator is joining the Martinsville School Board.
Tonya Jones, who lives on Stultz Road in the city, was appointed to the board by Martinsville City Council in a unanimous vote late Tuesday night. Jones works for the Rockingham County Schools in North Carolina as an assistant principal at McMichael High School near Mayodan, and she is a travel agent, according to her profile on the website LinkedIn.com.
She will fill the seat currently held by Victor Correa effective Saturday.
Donna Dillard was reappointed by the council, also in a unanimous vote, to her seat on the board.
Dillard’s and Correa’s current terms expire on Friday.
