MARTINSVILLE –Six city residents are in the running to fill two seats on the Martinsville School Board that are up for grabs.
The names of current seat holders Donna Dillard and Victor Correa, as well as those of James Hyler, Barry Broadnax, Tonya Jones and Phillip Stan Harris were stated during a public hearing held by the council Tuesday night.
The candidates will be interviewed privately by the council during its next meeting on June 27. The council then will appoint two of the candidates to fill the seats during open session. Under state law, appointments cannot be made sooner than seven days after the public hearing.
