Martinsville Bulletin: Student fees will rise at PHCC

April 17, 2017

MARTINSVILLE – Patrick Henry Community College (PHCC) students may have to pay more during the next academic year to be able to participate in clubs and organizations on campus.

The college’s board on Monday approved a 50-cent hike in the student activity fee, from $1.94 to $2.44 per semester hour of courses taken. However, the Virginia Community College System’s board must give its approval before the increase becomes official.

During a recent student referendum, the increase was approved “by an overwhelming majority of the votes,” a report in the board’s agenda packet stated.

It would be PHCC’s first increase in the activity fee in at least seven years.
