Hodges named EDC Director of Tourism
Sarah Hodges is the new Director of Tourism for the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation.

MARTINSVILLE, VA – Martinsville native Sarah Hodges has been named Director of Tourism for the Martinsville-Henry County Economic Development Corporation (EDC).

Hodges has worked for The Walt Disney Company since 2009, and is currently Guest Services Manager, Recreation, at Disney’s Saratoga Springs Resort and Disney’s Old Key West Resort in Orlando, Florida. While at Disney, Hodges also worked as Competition
Coordinator and Sports Specialist for Premium and Special Events at ESPN Wide World of Sports.

“We could not be more pleased to have someone with Sarah’s experience join the EDC’s
team,” said Mark Heath, president and CEO of the EDC. “Her selection is based on our
confidence in her ability to lead and grow the EDC’s Tourism programs and provide
valuable support and resources to our local tourism partners.”

The EDC’s Tourism Division supports and markets Martinsville-Henry County venues that
are engaged in tourism related activities, such as, the Martinsville Speedway, the
Virginia Museum of Natural History, Piedmont Arts, Philpott Lake, the Smith River Sports
Complex and numerous other attractions, vineyards, music venues, restaurants and
small businesses that support our tourism industry.

Hodges is a 2004 graduate of Martinsville High School and a graduate of the University
of Tennessee with a major in Advertising and a minor in Business Administration.
“This is an exciting opportunity to return home and help grow tourism in MartinsvilleHenry
County,” said Hodges. “I look forward to putting all I’ve learned at the Walt
Disney Company to work in my hometown.”

Heath stated that “Hodges’ extensive experience in customer service, event planning,
and sports marketing make her a great choice to run the EDC’s Tourism Division.” Heath
also added that “Hodges has the skills to lead and expand on programs and initiatives
currently in place.”

Hodges’ first day with the EDC will be March 6th.
