MARTINSVILLE, VA – The Patrick Henry Community College Foundation is now accepting applications for the Patrick Henry Scholars and Commonwealth Legacy scholarships. The deadline to apply is March 31. Applications are available on the homepage of www.patrickhenry.edu.
Each year, PHCC selects up to 10 students who have completed their high school education to become Patrick Henry Scholars. Scholars receive a full tuition scholarship to attend PHCC for up to two academic years. Scholars are chosen for their superior academic achievement, civic involvement and leadership potential. 2017 graduates from area high schools and students who have completed a homeschool program of study are both eligible.
Students who have maintained a 3.2 grade point average on a 4.0 scale during high school are encouraged to apply. Graduates of homeschool programs must be 17 years of age or older at the time of the application and must reside in the PHCC service region.
The Commonwealth Legacy Scholars program is a Virginia Community College System (VCCS) wide program sponsored by the Foundation for Community College Education. One student from each of the 23 colleges in the VCCS is selected for this merit-based scholarship.
Eligible students are fulltime, associate degree-seeking students attending college for the first time who have demonstrated academic excellence during high school as well as a commitment to develop their leadership skills.
