Letter from Board Chairman

Paul Eason, Chairman

Citizens of Martinsville and Henry County:

The Harvest Foundation is committed to serving our community by focusing on economic development to improve our health, educational opportunities and our overall quality of life.

I’m proud to be a citizen of Martinsville and Henry County, and to serve as Chairman of the Harvest Foundation Board of Directors. Our hometown is a wonderful place to live, work and play, and it’s our job at Harvest to help our community be the very best it can be.

Harvest Foundation was created by the sale of Memorial Hospital of Martinsville and Henry County in 2002. Through smart investments and the expertise of a knowledgeable staff and Board of Directors, the proceeds from that sale have grown to be able to put more than $120 million back in the community over the past 14 years.

If you walk on the Dick and Willie Trail, play sports at the Smith River Sports Complex, visit Bassett Family Practice for your medical care needs, or have a child in a school in Martinsville and Henry County, you’ve experienced the work of Harvest Foundation.

My family and I moved here in 1992. We found wonderful opportunities available in education, sports, the arts and nature. We also found warm and friendly people. I am looking forward to progress in economic development that will further enhance the qualities of our area.

We continue our work by responsibly researching and investing in our area through programs and projects spearheaded by the nonprofit community serving Martinsville and Henry County. Our ultimate goal is to improve the lives of each and every citizen. We are confident that we’ll get there with the partnerships we’ve created over the years, and the many groups and individuals committed to the same goals.

We’re here for you – our community.
